About The Podcast

Thanks so much for agreeing to be a guest on “The Unwritten Rules of Women’s Leadership” podcast!

I’m so grateful for the sisterhood of successful women that we are building and the wisdom our guests share with other women to help them rise too.

All my guests are brilliant, high achieving women, so you’re in good company. If you’d like a direct intro to any of them, please let me know.

The show will normally be live within a week or so of us recording it.

We’ll record using Zoom. The link will appear in your confirmation email when you book.

Before We Hit Record

  • The format is a 30-ish minute conversation between just us, aimed at sharing your learnings from your journey – your Unwritten Rules or lessons.

I will introduce you first and the conversation will be free-flowing and not scripted, but it may be helpful to think through the following types of questions before we talk.

  • How did you get here?

This is a brief warm up question that helps our listeners get to know you and establishes your credibility. Think of this as the Cliff Notes of your journey so far…and remember we only have 30 minutes in total!

We all struggled on our journey somewhere… What was tough for you?

Where are you now with that?

    How did you overcome it?

    What was the turning point?

Many of us struggled in areas like confidence, asking for what we wanted, stakeholder management, having difficult conversations – here is a list of the areas I see a lot with clients and that I cover in the course.

We tend to think we are the only ones going through difficulties and we battle on without anyone to talk to. Hearing where you struggled and how you overcame gives other women inspiration and tools to better navigate their journeys.

It might feel vulnerable as a senior leader to reveal that side of yourself… it’s not something we normally talk about openly (especially at work). But remember, I’m asking you to share what you struggled with and how you overcame it – your “scars”, not your “open wounds” – and it’s the real conversations like this that will help other women and help them feel less alone on their journey. Share what you feel comfortable with - and ask me if you want guidance..

What do you know now that you wish you had known earlier in your career?

As you look back on your journey so far, is there an “Unwritten Rule” that you figured out? Was there advice that you wish you had had earlier? What would you tell younger you?

  • I want to raise awareness of your work. Please use this podcast as a marketing asset and tool to connect and re-connect with others. My final question will be…

What are you excited about now?

This last question brings us back to today and is a future facing question for you to talk about what you are up to in the world now and next… how folks can see more of you or your work…

If you have any special offers or announcements, please make sure you let me know!

  • Seasoned Zoom user with a podcast microphone setup? Great!

If you don’t, here are four ways to get the best sound to help us make sure the show makes for enjoyable listening.

    1. Where possible please make sure you’re in a quiet environment. It’s super helpful if you can stay away from noisy fans, open windows, open-plan offices. Please also make sure you have all your devices (computer/cellphone…) off or, set to silent!

    2. Rooms with soft furnishings are better than corridors or rooms with hard walls and floors where sound can bounce around. It avoids you sounding like you’re stuck in an echo chamber!

    3. Rather than using the inbuilt microphone on your computer, it’s better to use the inbuilt microphone in the headphones that probably came with your smartphone. If you don’t have any, it’d be great if you can borrow some.

    4. Please make sure you have a strong WiFi signal where you are.

We’ll make sure to test everything before we start the official interview.

  • Let me know if there’s anything you particularly want to talk about or we need to avoid talking about in advance.

If your employer needs to review the recording before it’s published, please let me know and my team will hold off going ‘live’ until you give me the green light.

There are spaces in the booking form for you to send me a short bio, links to your website, social media platforms, any hashtags you use and a headshot for our social media and website.

I’ll be sending you links to show notes and social media assets and I ask that you post these on your chosen platforms.

Thanks so much for taking part,

    Helen xx
